Lowell Board of Health extends ambulance contract one year, approves HIV surveillance program. The four board members present unanimously extended the PrideStar EMS, Inc. ambulance service contract by one year via a motion by William Galvin. The board approved collaboration with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health on the National HIV Behavioral Surveillance Program to study underlying risks of HIV infection in three population groups, supporting the initiative amid rising HIV cases in the area.

Sr. Sanitary Code Inspector Matthew Sheehan reported failed school inspections at multiple locations, including the new Lowell High School Culinary Lab, prompting the board to unanimously vote to invite appropriate School Department staff to attend the May 6, 2026 meeting to address the failures.
