City Council approves $41,462 grant for law enforcement assistance.

LOWELL — City Council unanimously approves law enforcement grant funding. The Lowell City Council adopted acceptance and expenditure of $41,462 in FY25 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant funding by unanimous roll call vote of 11 to 0. The council also heard an informational presentation on the Frontrunner City Program and a Memorandum of Understanding with Solar International Core Canada Ltd., which City Manager Golden described as a $2 billion dollar development opportunity tied to mixed-use housing, higher education, and community partnerships.
Library Director Ms. Cooley reported that Pollard Memorial Library has expanded services and increased patrons served by 70 percent, prompting multiple councilors to urge budget protection during the annual review process. Councilor McDonough's motion to restore Perkins Street to the Acre/Highlands residential parking ordinance was referred to the City Manager for department review.
