LOWELL — The Lowell Veterans Commission approved plans for summer and fall events featuring veterans. Chairman Paul Paradise reported the successful May 22 Memorial Day ceremony at Veterans Park drew Mayor Erik Gitschier and Deputy Secretary Dr. Gayle-Bennett of the Massachusetts Executive Office of Veterans Services.

For Fourth of July, the commission approved plans in which Road Runner Car Club volunteers will drive veterans to the city celebration at LeLacheur Park; the Lowell Memorial Auditorium was approved as an alternative Veterans Day venue if needed. Additional approved events include a UMass Lowell Hockey Night veterans appreciation with a thank-you card for Walter Reed National Medical Center and a City of Lights Parade float honoring veterans.
