Historic Board approves two downtown residential projects, continues third

LOWELL — Historic Board approves two downtown residential projects unanimously. The Lowell Historic Board voted 7-0 on March 9 to issue Historic Permits for two mixed-use developments: a two six-story building project by Cabot, Cabot, and Forbes at 291 and 341 Jackson Street, the former Lowell Machine Shop Foundry, and a six-story mixed-use building by Valter DeCarvalho at 43 Fletcher Street, replacing the former Ashworth's File Factory. Chair George Villaras presided.
Both approvals included conditions on materials, window specifications, roof details, and signage. A third application by New North Canal LLC for demolition and residential construction at 281 and 463 Moody Street was continued to May 11 to allow design completion.
