LOWELL — Library board unanimously elects Richards chair and forms outreach committee. Donna Richards retained the chair, Ellen Anstey as vice chair, and Judith Davidson as secretary for one-year terms at the January 14 meeting of the Pollard Memorial Library Board of Trustees. An ad hoc outreach and advocacy committee was formed, chaired by Courtney McSparron and Titiana Tambi, to develop trustee strategies ahead of city budget debates and a January 23 State Senate candidate forum.
Library Director Bridget Cooley will present "Budget 101" at the next meeting. A $4,000 IMLS grant for English Language Learner books, initially cut by federal action, was reinstated following a Rhode Island v. Trump court ruling.
