Lowell License Commission votes unanimously on 18 liquor and business licenses. The five-member panel, chaired by Commission Chair Donahue, approved six amplified outdoor public entertainment permits for city-sponsored events throughout 2026, including Bicentennial Concerts, Spring Busker Festival, Greater Lowell Pride, Independence Day, Monsterbash and Fall Fest, and City of Lights. The board also issued 12 special one-day liquor licenses for fundraisers and university events, plus licenses for a secondhand goods store, fortune teller, amusement devices, and a used auto dealer.
The Commission continued a contested hearing on an A1 Food Mart package store license transfer to April 23, 2026, after five residents and a business owner opposed the application over safety concerns near schools and a busy intersection, pending police crime and traffic data.
