License Commission approves seven special event alcohol licenses in single meeting

Lowell License Commission approves seven alcohol permits for spring fundraisers and events. The board voted unanimously on March 12 to license special one-day service of wines and malt beverages for events ranging from UMass Lowell's Men's Basketball Playoff to Pollard Memorial Library's twentieth annual "Meet the Author Night" to the Hellenic Center's two weekend celebrations. Commission Chair Donahue, alongside Commissioners Krieger, Mercier, and Underwood, also scheduled three additional hearings for April 2: a public hearing on A1 Food Mart's application to relocate a package store license to 1 East Meadow Road, a hearing on Platinos Bar & Grill's application for an all-alcoholic-beverages restaurant license at 1717 Middlesex Street, and a compliance hearing for Blue Shamrock Inc., which faces allegations of regulatory violations from a March 1, 2026 incident.
