LOWELL — License Commission approves six special event alcohol permits and two new business licenses. In a single meeting, the four-member board voted unanimously on fourteen items, ratifying Elizabeth Lopez's UMass Lowell receptions, approving Marta Rodrigues's three-day Sao Joao Feast with amplification at the Portuguese American Lowell Youth Center, and granting permits to Jennie Mercado for religious services in South Common Park, Amanda Étinge for the Hellenic Center events, and Lee Viliesis for the Western Avenue Open Studios Block Party. Two new restaurant licenses were approved: one for 72 Merrimack Entertainment LLC (Europa) as an all-alcoholic-beverages venue at 72 Merrimack Street's third floor, and a wine and malt beverages transfer for Shri Swaminarayan Foods LLC (Simon's Convenience) at 590 Rogers Street.

Two additional public hearings were scheduled for June 25 on license alterations for The Lass Stop and Galaxy Lounge.
