Lowell Disability Commission backs ramp and housing initiatives. The Commission voted to support a city wheelchair ramp and sidewalk improvement project targeting 104 new ramps across Downtown, the Acre, and Belvedere neighborhoods, estimated at $725,000 to $872,000, with construction focusing on schools, parks, public buildings, and high-foot-traffic residential areas. Members also approved a letter endorsing the Massachusetts Accessible and Affordable Housing Coalition's $800 million state affordable housing trust fund proposal requiring 10 percent accessible units.
The Commission assigned member Lloyd De Jesus to follow up on the lack of interpreters at Lowell Senior Center events.
