Board of Disabilities Commission · Meeting of August 13, 2026

Lowell Disability Commission re-elects leadership, addresses park accessibility gaps. All commission positions were unanimously re-elected without opposition: Chairperson Sebastian Nash, Associate Chairperson Erica Harvey, Treasurer Ron Lassman, and Clerk Chris Green. Commissioner Joanna Turcotte raised concerns about playground swings at Gage Park and newly opened Sponge Park in Centralville, noting that some lack harnesses for securing children with disabilities, and reported that Sponge Park has no designated handicap parking.

The commission directed Assistant City Solicitor Olivia Hart-Paulson to work with city staff on compiling a citywide playground accessibility needs list by September and asked Commissioner Chris Green to contact the City Manager's Office regarding parking solutions.
