Lowell School Committee approves FY27 budget proposal for public hearing following community outcry. Superintendent Liam Skinner fielded concerns from 15 speakers objecting to proposed cuts in arts and student support services at Lowell High School; Mayor Gitschier requested all principals attend the upcoming budget hearing to explain reductions. The Committee also accepted FY26 grant awards, approved a $640 donation to the Stoklosa Knowledge Bowl from Garrett S.

Thurston through the Greater Lowell Community Foundation, and unanimously approved three international and out-of-state student travel requests and 73 days of collective sick leave donations to two teachers. All votes passed 6-0, with Ms. Martin absent.
