Lowell schools advance two safety proposals to the full School Committee for consideration. The Safety Subcommittee voted unanimously (2-0) to submit a district safety report to the full Committee, which will consider two motions: one requesting an outside security assessment via RFP, and another proposing a focus group to develop emergency-response procedures. Assistant Superintendent Wendy Crocker-Roberge outlined multiple recent safety initiatives including portable weapon-detection units, estimated at $40,196.50 for two or $59,759.80 for three units, though no final decision has been made.
Chairperson Connie Martin requested data on school incidents before the full Committee votes.
