Planning Board approves two affordable housing and one single-family subdivision projects

Lowell Planning Board unanimously approves two major developments including affordable housing expansion. New North Canal LLC received Site Plan Review approval to redevelop 463 and 281 Moody Street from 116 units into 160 units of affordable housing, adding 44 units across a four-story senior building with 100 units and a five-story family building with 60 units. Vice Chair G.
Frechette conditioned approval on a Transportation Demand Management plan, bicycle parking, canal safety buffer, and snow storage provisions. The board also unanimously approved a Definitive Subdivision for Soklark Hong at 104 Mariposa Avenue to split a 17,000-square-foot Suburban Single-Family lot into two parcels for a new single-family home. Earlier, the board allowed Residents First Development Corporation to withdraw without prejudice its application to amend the Rivers Edge Planned Residential Development after the Law Department determined the project requires City Council approval under current zoning.
