Lowell School Committee approves $500K federal grant continuation and technology donations. The Committee unanimously accepted FY26 grant awards and bundled approval of donations including $150,000 in Dell Chromebooks from the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative, a $35,000 United Way grant to expand Community Schools services, a vehicle from Greater Lowell Technical High School, and student activity account donations totaling $1,052 (Mayor Gitschier abstained on the bundled vote). Assistant Superintendent for Student Support Services Ms.
Brown LeGrand reported the district updated its Bullying Prevention and Intervention Plan in June 2025 and is implementing a districtwide mental health approach. The Committee also approved six overnight Lowell High School student travel requests to Portland, Oregon; Southbridge and Stratford, Connecticut; Japan; and Nashville, Tennessee; a $29,533.80 budget modification; and food service vacation pay rates ranging from $22 to $26 per hour.
