School Committee · Meeting of April 22, 2026

LOWELL — School Committee approves $115.6 million teaching staff budget for FY27 after continued hearing. Superintendent Liam Skinner's proposal drew public concerns about position cuts; Mr. Lay cast the sole dissenting vote on the $115,611,745 bottom-line figure.

The committee unanimously preserved two clerk scheduler positions and voted to reinstate two computer technician posts. Superintendent Skinner will return May 6 with an updated budget incorporating available Suspense Account funds to restore two clerk schedulers, three student support specialists, and one Director of Technology position.
