LOWELL — The Lowell License Commission approved more than a dozen special-event and liquor-license requests Thursday on a three-member quorum, with Chair Donohue and Commissioner Mercier absent. Commissioners cleared a wine license for Thomas Fiorelli's AR Loft Gallery reception tied to the Lowell Celebrates Jack Kerouac Festival, a beer and wine license for Navigation Brewing Company at the Bay State Marathon, and an outdoor-entertainment permit for the city's Fall Busker Series. Amanda Ettinge won five separate licenses for events at the Hellenic Center, including a retroactive approval after one booking moved venues at the last minute; Diego Leonardo secured a permit for the Latinx Community Center's fifth annual Hispanic and Latinx Festival, representing "37 different countries from Latin America." Kazanjian Used Auto Parts got approval to store scrap metal outdoors in bins, which representative David Gray said would be "neat and orderly." The commission also approved Sophia's Greek Pantry North's license transfer to 484 Merrimack Street and scheduled an October 15 public hearing on Showcase Cinema Lowell's liquor license transfer.
