LOWELL — The Lowell Board of Parks approved six fall permit requests and ordered a review of field misuse at its September 30 meeting. Members unanimously approved a $200 Jack Kerouac Park rally permit for Indivisible Lowell's October 17 voter-education event, waiving a separate $50 resident fee, and cleared permits for a youth flag football tournament, a birthday party, and Lowell Catholic practice sessions. The board also credited a Boys Lacrosse account $1,200 for an erroneous custodial charge and voided a canceled SLS Fitness field-day fee.

A board member warned that adult softball leagues and soccer programs have been using baseball-only fields despite roughly $9 million in recent park upgrades, saying "the city spent about $9 million to fix these fields up, and someone's got to help us maintain these fields." Staff agreed to bring a field-conditions report to a future meeting; the board's next regular session is October 28, its last before a scheduled break through December.
