Other Committee · Meeting of October 1, 2026
Lowell's Community Preservation Committee cleared 13 funding applications worth more than $4.3 million for eligibility. The panel, welcoming new member Gigi Desmond, unanimously bundled a vote finding every project, from $69,000 for exterior repairs at 226-228 Central Street to roughly $603,910 for a 78-unit affordable housing conversion of Mass Mills' Boiler Building, eligible to compete for Community Preservation Act funds. Other requests included $600,000 for Oliveira Park improvements, $400,000 to restore stained glass at the Smith Baker Center, and $350,000 for basketball court repairs at three city parks.
"This is a valuable sort of coalition for us to continue to be members of," the chair said, as members also approved $4,350 in annual dues to the Community Preservation Coalition and the committee's annual CPA plan. Full applications are due November 5.
