Lowell School Committee extends assistant superintendent contracts one year with three percent salary increase. Fred Bahou's original motion for a three-year extension with tiered raises faced public opposition and internal concern over a looming budget deficit; the Committee amended it to a single-year extension through June 30, 2027, which passed 5-1, with Dave Conway voting no. The Committee also approved superintendent reports showing the district's 4-year graduation rate at 80.2 percent (up from 78.5 in 2024), transportation costs for 360 homeless students totaling $3.6 million, and a homogenous professional learning initiative.
Superintendent Liam Skinner was directed to provide a five-year enrollment projection and space-needs analysis. A budget modification of $9,996.47 was approved.
