Lowell License Commission Approves Seven Applications, Sets Three February Hearings
LOWELL — January 22, 2026 — Lowell License Commission approves seven applications and schedules three public hearings at January 22 session. Chair Donahue presided over the meeting with Commissioner Mercier and Commissioner Underwood; Commissioner Krieger and Commissioner Tang were both absent. The commission granted licenses for a range of events and businesses, including a one-day wine license for the Arts League of Lowell's Blues Reception on January 24, a Special Events Permit for the 16th Annual Khmer New Year Celebration at Clement Park on April 18, an auctioneer's license for an online auction of former Ideal Tape Company equipment, a Common Victualler License for Piccadilly Empanadas y Mas at 378 Broadway Street, and one-day wine and malt beverage licenses for Hive Public Market's "Final Fridays" event and a Galentine's cake-decorating class at Mill City Grows. The commission also approved a new all-alcoholic beverages restaurant license for Lowell Asian Restaurant LLC at 369 Broadway Street following a continued public hearing at which no one appeared in opposition. Public hearings for three additional liquor license applications — including a hotel license transfer at the Sonesta Select Boston Lowell in which the proposed manager was amended from Uday Patel to Akshay Patel, a new full-liquor license for Populous Lowell LLC at 15-25 Merrimack Street, and a new wine-and-malt license for On the Bun LLC at 120-122 Merrimack Street — were set for the February 5, 2026 meeting.
